(April 9, 2014) – After grabbing victories in three of the four contests this weekend, the Maritime baseball team looks to build on its momentum with a matchup against Skyline rival Yeshiva. The game is set to take place at Taft High School in the Bronx, N.Y. on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
CANNELLA PICKS UP ECAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORSAfter already being named the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his no-hitter on Saturday over St. Joseph's, senior
Trevor Cannella (Sea Cliff, N.Y./North Shore) added Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) accolades to his
résumé. The conference announced its weekly honors on Tuesday and the right-hander was tabbed the ECAC Division III Metro Pitcher of the Week. This is the second time this season the Privateers boasted the Metro Pitcher of the Week, as senior

LAST GAME RECAPOn Sunday, coming off of the no-hitter thrown by Cannella on Saturday afternoon, Maritime was able to sweep a pair of games on the road against conference opponent Mount St. Vincent.
In the first contest, junior left-hander
Paul Pfundstein (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) was able to secure the win after hurling 7 1/3 innings against the Dolphins, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five. Senior
Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) went 2-for-5 at the dish and knocked in the first run of the contest with a single to left center. He also swiped a pair of bases in the game.
In the back end of the doubleheader, senior
Nick Sarna (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned the victory after pitching five and a third innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out four. Junior
Joe Longo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) went 1-for-2 at the plate, adding two walks, two runs, and one RBI. Junior
Ryan Alsdorf (Bethel, N.Y./Sullivan West) was a key contributor as he collected the save in both games, throwing a combined 3 1/3 hitless innings of baseball.
SCOUTING THE MACCABEESYeshiva enters the Wednesday contest with an overall record of 0-18, and a conference record of 0-13. The Maccabees last played on Sunday in a conference doubleheader against Mount St. Mary where they dropped both games.
Catcher Jake Frankel has led the way for Yeshiva, posting a .264 batting average with 14 hits, six doubles, and the team's lone homerun. Pitcher Jonathan Gardner has anchored the frontend of the rotation for the Maccabees, posting a 7.43 earned run average and team high 12 strikeouts.
ALL-TIME SERIESThe Privateers are 11-1 all-time against the Maccabees and are currently riding a three-game winning streak. In the last contest back on March 11th of this year, the Privateers earned the victory by a final score of 13-0.
In the win, Sarna earned the win after throwing a perfect game against the Maccabees. He added five strikeouts in the contest. At the dish, Longo had a team high six RBI's as he went 2-for-5 at the dish with a bases-clearing triple.
HEAD-TO-HEAD UP NEXTThe Privateers continue Skyline play with a Saturday matchup at home against visiting Purchase. The doubleheader is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. on Reinhart Field.
Yeshiva hits the road on Friday for a non-conference doubleheader against Albertus Magnus at 10 a.m.
