THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 16, 2014) – The Maritime women's lacrosse team defeated Skyline opponent Old Westbury, 10-8, Wednesday afternoon in a "road" game that was played at Reinhart Field. With the win, the Privateers end the 2014 season with a 5-8 overall record (2-5 Skyline), setting a new program single-season mark with five victories.
 
        Freshman Jane Quinn (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) led the way for Maritime by finding the back of the net a season-best five times, while scoring four of the game's last five goals. Her first tally came with 9:11 to play in the opening half and that put the Privateers up 6-4. The Panthers added another goal before the half ended and Maritime went into the break up 6-4.
 
        Old Westbury's Sara Bey scored her third and fourth goals of the game to open the second half and give the Panthers their first lead of the day, 7-6, at 27:39. Quinn tied it up just 12 seconds later with her second of the game, but Bey put OW back up yet again three minutes later.
 
        Quinn went on to score the next three goals, the last coming at 8:52, to put Maritime back in front, 10-8. The Privateers maintained possession for most of the final nine minutes and held on for the victory.
 
        Junior captain Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) scored the first two goals of the game for the Privateers in the first half and three other players also found the twine – sophomores Caroline Reynolds (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) and freshman Hannah Pell (Southampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach). Sophomore Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) picked up a game-high six groundballs, while Quinn had five GBs and a team-high five draw controls and five caused turnovers. Sophomore goalie Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) made 12 saves in the winning effort.
 
        For the Panthers, Bey finished with five goals, while Courtney Gallagher scored twice and Meaghan Haber once. Haber had five draw controls. Bey led the squad with four groundballs. Senior Jackie Cartegena made nine saves between the pipes.
