THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 15, 2014) – Coming off a doubleheader sweep against Skyline opponent Mount St. Mary, the Privateers look to keep it rolling with on Wednesday against the Bearcats of Baruch College. First pitch is scheduled to be tossed at 3:30 p.m.

LAST GAME RECAP
On Sunday, the Privateers were able to hit the road and squeeze out a pair of one run victories against conference rival Mount St. Mary.

In the first of two contests, the Privateers entered the top off the tenth inning in a tie ball game when freshman Brian McLaughlin (Massapequa, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) roped a double to left field to plate junior Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side), the eventual game-winning run. Senior Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) continued his dominance, going 3-6 at the dish, adding a run and a pair of RBIs.

Clinging to a one-run lead, junior pitcher Paul Pfundstein (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) came on in the bottom of the tenth for the Privateers to try and close out the ballgame. Pfundstein pitched a perfect inning mowing down the Knights in order to grab his first save of the season as the Privateers won by a score of 9-8.

In the back end of the doubleheader, Maritime broke things open early with a three-RBI bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning by McLaughlin. Junior Joe Longo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) also had a big day at the dish going 2-4 with three RBIs, a run and a stolen base.

On the hill, senior Trevor Cannella (Sea Cliff, N.Y./North Shore) got the start and the win, but struggled in large part due to some shaky defense by the Privateers. Six collective errors led to six unearned runs for Knights. In a winning effort, Cannella hurled four innings, gave up four earned runs, and walked one batter.

In relief for the Privateers, Pfundstein came into the contest for the second straight game and threw three innings, giving up just three hits and one walk. He earned his second save of the day.
