LAST GAME RECAPMaritime picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday afternoon when the Privateers knocked off Saint Elizabeth by a 13-5 score on Reinhart Field. In the game, junior
Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) picked up a season-high four goals and sophomore
Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) picked up four goals as well as one assist.
Sophomore
Caroline Reynolds (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego), along with freshmen
Hannah Pell (Southampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach),
Jillian Raimo (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and
Tina Kang (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) also contributed with one goal apiece. In goal,
Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) collected 18 saves to pick up her second win of the season.
INSIDE THE SERIESThe Privateers have met Farmingdale once each year since the women's lacrosse program was established at Maritime in 2007. Since that time, the Rams have won every matchup head-to-head with the Privateers.
Last season, Maritime fell at home to Farmingdale by a score of 17-1 on March 23. In the game, then-freshman
Leanne Lavelle netted the only goal for the Privateers, while in goal
Meghin Paczkowski made 11 saves in the defeat.
SCOUTING THE RAMSThe Rams come into Saturday's game with a 9-1 record and are 1-0 in Skyline Conference action under second year head coach Erin Calkins. The Rams have won three straight including a pair of games in the North Carolina against Greensboro on Tuesday and Guilford on Thursday.
In its most recent game, Farmingdale defeated Guilford 20-18 in a back-and-forth affair. In the game, the Rams were led by Nicole Marzocca with six goals and two assists, next on the team was Brittany Rosino with five goals, while Christy Thoden contributed with four goals and five assists. In goal, Krista Spagnoletta improved to 9-1 on the season with 15 saves in 60 minutes of play.
Overall for Farmingdale, Marzocca has led the way with 36 goals and 22 assists for 58 points; Thoden has 25 goals and 16 assists, while Alyssa Handel has 27 goals and 10 assists. Thoden also leads the team with 61 draw controls, 22 caused turnovers, and 34 ground balls.
