THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 1, 2014) – The Maritime men's basketball team will play host to Skyline Conference opponent NYU-Poly on Saturday afternoon in the final meeting ever between the two teams. Game time is 1 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.
End Of A Great Rivalry
On Saturday, Maritime and NYU-Poly will be taking the court against each other for the 58th and final time. The Jays are the second most played opponent for the Privateers behind Yeshiva. Poly will no longer sponsor an athletic program after the 2013-14 academic year, thus ending a great New York City basketball rivalry.
Inside The Series…
Maritime holds a 42-15 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1951-52 season. Last year, the two teams split action – Poly won at Riesenberg Gym, 63-57, on Nov. 29, 2012, and the Privateers rebounded with a 77-74 overtime victory in Brooklyn on Jan. 24, 2013.
