For the game, Purchase stormed out of the gates and recorded five shots in the first seven minutes of play. After the team's had a chance to dry off from the rainy elements, Maritime and Purchase returned to the pitch for the second half. The Privateers were unable to string together any successive offensive series, as play continued to be battled in the neutral zone as well as in their own defensive end.
In the 84th minute of play, Purchase collected its second goal of the match to virtually seal the victory as the Panthers were ahead by two with just 6:19 left to play. The final minutes of the game ticked off the clock, and Maritime had been eliminated from the playoffs.
