Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2014) – The Maritime men's soccer traveled up to the New York State capital on Saturday for a Skyline Conference showdown against The Sage Colleges. The Privateers lost to the host Gators by the final score of 4-0 and fall to 5-6-1 (1-2-1 Skyline) on the season, while Sage improves to 5-5-1 (3-1 Skyline).
Maritime mustered just four shots on goal in the game, three in the first half and one in the second. Four different players had those shots, as sophomore
Andrew Barry (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) tallied the first just over five minutes in, juniors
Sheick Wattara (Bronx, N.Y./Urban Assembly for Math & Science) and
Patrick McCarty (East Rockaway, N.Y./East Rockaway) had back-to-back shots on goal in the 15th and 16th minutes, respectively, and classmate
Renato Chira-Farfan (Miraflores, Peru/Mahopac (N.Y.)) put a shot forward in the 80th minute that was saved by Sage's replacement goalkeeper junior Christopher Dunham.
The Gators scored just over three minutes into the game, when freshman Heriberto Gomez found the back of the net off an assist by classmate Kevin Saar. They doubled the lead in the 32nd minute on a tally by junior Peter Fabrykiwicz, assisted by senior Gustavo Trinidad. Sage added one more before the end of the first half when sophomore Alex Lanza scored in the 39th minute, off assists from Trinidad and Fabrykiwicz.
In the second half, senior Jose Miranda tallied his third goal of the season in the 62nd minute to close out the scoring.
In goal, Maritime junior keeper
Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) made eight saves, while Sage's starting keeper, junior TJ Zehner, had three saves to earn the victory in the combined-shutout with Dunham.
Maritime returns to action on Tuesday night, Oct. 14, with a home Skyline match against Purchase College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. Live stats will be available at
