Box Score
NEWBURGH, N.Y. (January 11, 2014) – Despite 15 points from junior guard
Sean Corley (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall Academy), the Maritime Privateers basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference matchup to the Mount St. Mary Knights on Saturday afternoon by the score of 92-53.
Â
Aside from Corley's team-leading 15-point output, the Privateers also got double-figures with 11 points from sophomore guard
Tim McNamara (Somerville, N.J./Somerville). Corley also led the team in rebounds as he fell just one shy of a double-double with nine boards.
Â
One key difference in the score was points in the paint in which the Knights controlled much of the play in the key as they outscored the Privateers 44-16 while close to the basket.
Â
Mount St. Mary took the first lead of the game with a basket 48 seconds into the contest, but the Privateers responded as Corley tipped in a shot to even the game at a bucket. The Knights rattled off an 8-0 run and didn't turn back and eventually took a 25-point lead into the halftime break at 47-22.
Â
The Knights continued their strong play throughout the remainder of regulation and completed the game with the 39-point victory.
Â
In addition to Corley and McNamara reaching double-figures in terms of points, the Privateers also got eight points out of junior guard
T'Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) and six points out of freshman
Kevin Heine (Frederick, Md./Oakdale).
Â
Looking to snap its two-game skid, Maritime (3-9, 1-4 Skyline) will welcome in nationally ranked Purchase on Tuesday evening at Riesenberg Gym. Mount St. Mary (9-4, 5-1 Skyline) will look to keep its winning ways intact and go for seven wins in an eight-game span on Tuesday evening when the Knights take on NYU-Poly in Brooklyn.
