        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 20, 2013) – The Maritime men's soccer team will open up Skyline Conference action on Saturday with a game at Old Westbury. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Panthers' Field. The Privateers will then be traveling up to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to take on non-conference rival Vassar College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Inside The Series With Old Westbury
        In the past 11 meetings between the two teams dating back to the 2004 season, the Privateers own a 6-4-1 record over the Panthers. Maritime has won each of the past five games, all since the 2009 season, including the Skyline Tournament Championship game in 2010.
 
        In 2012, the Privateers hosted Old Westbury at Reinhart Field on Oct. 13 and won by the score of 2-1. Then-junior Ryan Flaherty (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Notre Dame High) (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Notre Dame High) scored off an assist by then-sophomore Tim Swinehart (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) and freshman Kory Barone (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) also scored. In goal, then-freshman Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) made four saves for the victory.

        The Privateers have played the Brewers each of the past three seasons and picked up their first victory over them in 2012 on Sept. 16, when they won at Reinhart Field, 3-2 in overtime. Senior Chris Anderson (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) scored the game-winner just under two minutes into the first OT, and the Privateers also got goals from then-freshman Taylor McFadzen (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and senior Ryan Nugent (Carmel, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic). Between the posts, senior Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) earned the win in that game, making two saves.
