THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 11, 2013) - The Maritime men's soccer team lost to rival Kings Point, 2-0, Wednesday night at Reinhart Field.

The Mariners scored once each half with the first goal coming in the 16th minute when Kyle Arestivo rifled a shot into the top left corner of the net after taking a nice drop pass from Dan Weldon at the top of the box. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half.

The Privateers played a stronger second half - the shots were almost even, as KP just outshot Maritime, 9-8. It was a play where the Mariners had numbers down low that they struck again, as Alex Palermo-Re converted a one-timer into the net that was assisted by Gavin Yingling and Arestivo.

Sophomore Taylor McFadzen (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the Privateers with three shots on the night and in goal, classmate Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) made six saves.

Maritime (1-3) returns to action on Friday night, when they host The King's College (N.Y.). Game time was moved back one hour to 8 p.m. at Reinhart Field. That game will be preceded by a women's game at 6 p.m., also against King's College.
