THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 23, 2013) – The Privateers baseball team will be taking on the  Yeshiva Maccabees for the second time this year tonight at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. This is a makeup game for the April 10 game that was suspended due to lightning. The game will start from the beginning and will be nine inning contest.
 
Inside The Series With Yeshiva
            This year the Privateers defeated the Maccabees in there only matchup by a score of 5-1.
 
               In that game, junior Kurt Niemeyer (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) went the distance allowing just three hits, one run, and three walks, while striking out twelve earning his third win of the season.
 
        Senior Ed Martinez (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) got the scoring started by blasting a homerun over the right field fence to put the Privateers on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
 
        In the bottom of the fourth Maritime put three runs on the board, sophomore Joseph Longo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John Baptist) and freshman Bruce Tyler (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place)  both drove in runs on singles. Senior Michael Staropoli (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle) hit a sacrifice fly to drive in sophomore Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) to make the score 4-0. Senior Joey Semler (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) would tack on another run in the fifth on a RBI single.
