       THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 2, 2013) – Maritime baseball fell to the Baruch Bearcats by a score of 7-2. The Privateers drop their record to 5-14 overall on the 2013 season. 
 
           The Bearcats started the scoring in the fourth when freshman Matthew Ballone knocked in two RBIs on a double to left field scoring freshman Richard Valerio and junior Philip Loprete to take a 2-0 lead.
 
        Maritime would answer back in the fifth as they would tie the game at two when sophomore Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) (Rockville Centre, N.Y. / South Side) drove in sophomore Joseph Longo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John Baptist) from third on a single and senior Joey Semler (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) scored on a fielding error by the third baseman Loprete.
 
        During the sixth inning, The Privateers had a chance to take the lead as Semler hit a potential sacrifice fly with Thomas Bauer (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) on third base but was thrown out at the plate on a relay throw by sophomore first baseman Eric Ulino to freshman catcher Jasdeep Buttar.  
 
        In the top of the seventh, the Bearcats would take the lead again on a single by Buttar that would knock in freshman Keith Ezersky. Eventually Baruch would tack on four more runs in the ninth off of senior reliever Michael Staropoli (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) due to in large part by four passed balls during the inning.
 
        Senior Christopher Myers (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J. / Middlesex) started for Maritime, tossing five innings, allowing two runs (one earned), walking two, and striking out six. Semler went 3-for-5 during the game, scoring one run.  
 
        The Privateers will be hosting a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday April 6 at Reinhart Field. First pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 11 a.m.
