THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 17, 2013) – The Maritime women's lacrosse team lost to Mount St. Vincent on Wednesday night by the score of 14-2. The loss drops the Privateers to 2-11 (1-8 Skyline) and advances Mount St. Vincent's record to 6-8 (4-5 Skyline).
The first Maritime goal was scored by freshman
Jackie Golematis (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) early in the first half to advance the score to a 2-1 lead for Mount St. Vincent. Golematis was later joined by classmate
Jori Cooper (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Central Rural) (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Central Rwal) who scored the Privateers second goal of the game off of a free position shot. Sophomore
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) and freshman
Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) led the Privateers in ground balls with four a piece. In goal freshman
Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) registered ten saves.
Mount St. Vincent was led by senior Nicole Flores who scored six points on the night with a game high four goals and two assists. Sophomore Kelly Fraser added three goals while junior Samantha Ramsden and sophomore Melina Mezzanotte each scored two more Mount St. Vincent goals. Ramsden also had a game high seven groundballs and chipped in one assist.
The Privateers return to action on Saturday April 20 when they host Old Westbury in their last home game of the season.
