Baseball Game Day: Baseball Takes On NYU-Poly

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 17, 2013) – The Privateers baseball team will be taking on the  NYU-Poly Blue Jays  today at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. This is a makeup game of the first game for last Saturday's cancelled doubleheader and is a home game for NYU-Poly.  
 
Inside The Series With NYU-Poly
            The Privateers hold a 3-3 record against the Blue Jays since 2010. They went 1-1 against them last year.
 
           In game one of last year, Nick Sarna (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned the victory after tossing seven innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts. He was helped by then-freshman Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side), who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Three other Privateers earned two RBIs, each, in the game. Robert Silvestri earned the save after coming into the game and getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning.
 
         The second game went to extra innings and NYU-Poly earned their first conference victory of the 2012 season with a grand slam in the top of the eighth by Anthony Finch. Michael Staropoli (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) (New Rochelle, N.Y./Oswego State) suffered the loss. Thomas Bauer (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) provided most of the Privateer offense with three RBIs, all coming on two home runs. Christian Conroy earned the victory for NYU-Poly.
