Live Stats for Sunday's DH at Old Westbury

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 12, 2013) – The Privateers baseball team will be taking on the  NYU-Poly Blue Jays and the Old Westbury Panthers in back-to-back away doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's twin-bill is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be played at Reinhart Field but will be an away game because NYU-Poly's field is unplayable right now. Sunday's doubleheader will start at noon at Old Westbury's home, the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.

Inside The Series With NYU-Poly
The Privateers hold a 3-3 record against the Blue Jays since 2010. They went 1-1 against them last year.

In game one of last year, Nick Sarna (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned the victory after tossing seven innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts. He was helped by then-freshman Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side), who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Three other Privateers earned two RBIs, each, in the game. Robert Silvestri earned the save after coming into the game and getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning.

The second game went to extra innings and NYU-Poly earned their first conference victory of the 2012 season with a grand slam in the top of the eighth by Anthony Finch. Michael Staropoli (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) (New Rochelle, N.Y./Oswego State) suffered the loss. Thomas Bauer (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) provided most of the Privateer offense with three RBIs, all coming on two home runs. Christian Conroy earned the victory for NYU-Poly.

Inside The Series With Old Westbury
Since 2010, Old Westbury has an advantage over Maritime, 5-1. Last year the Panthers took both games of a doubleheader.

In the first game, the Panthers built up a 10-2 lead after 2.5 innings, but the Privateers cut that deficit to just three in the bottom of the third with a leadoff solo home run by Matthew Sollin (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and then, four batters later, a grand slam by Ed Martinez (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac).

Maritime scored again in the fourth on solo blast by Joseph Longo (Port Jeff. Station, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), but Old Westbury showed their might at the plate by scoring three in the top of the fifth and putting the game well out of reach with eight in the top of the seventh. Trevor Cannella (Sea Cliff, N.Y./North Shore) suffered the loss in the first game.

Game two saw the Panthers jump on starter Christopher Myers (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) early, scoring six runs in the second inning and then five more in the fourth. Maritime's only runs came on an RBI groundout by sophomore Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) in the fourth and a solo home run by Sollin in the seventh, his second of the day.
