THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 10, 2013) – On Wednesday, Maritime baseball won game one of a doubleheader against Yeshiva by a score of 5-1. Game two was suspended due to lightning in the bottom of the second inning.
Junior
Kurt Niemeyer (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) went the distance allowing just three hits, one run, and three walks, while striking out twelve earning his third win of the season.
Senior
Ed Martinez (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) got the scoring started by blasting a homerun over the right field fence to put the Privateers on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
In the bottom of the fourth Maritime put three runs on the board, sophomore
Joseph Longo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John Baptist) and freshman
Bruce Tyler (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) both drove in runs on singles. Senior

Joey Semler (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) would tack on another in the fifth on a RBI single.
Yaniv Lautman drove in the only run for the Maccabees tonight on a RBI single in the ninth. Yeshiva freshman starter Jonathan Gardner also pitched a complete game allowing 11 hits, five runs (four earned), while striking out two.
In game two, Maritime was up 5-1 in the bottom of the second but eventually lightning started to appear which put the game in delay for an hour. The game was eventually resumed but was put back into suspension after lightning again showed up and putting the game to rest for the night.
Maritime baseball returns to action on Saturday, April 13 for a conference doubleheader against NYU-Polytechnic. This game will be an away game for the Privateers but will be played at Reinhart Field.
