Women’s Lacrosse Stumbles Against Mount St. Mary

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 27, 2013) – The Maritime women's lacrosse team suffered a conference loss to Mount St. Mary Wednesday night by the score of 19-4. The loss drops Maritime to 2-6 on the season (1-4 Skyline) and advances Mount St. Mary's record to 5-2 (3-0 Skyline).
 
        After being down 14-0 at the end of the first half, Maritime freshman Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) scored the first three goals of the second half.  Lavelle finished the game with a total of four goals. Junior Theresa D'Amore (Blooming Grove, N.Y./Washingtonville) (Blooming Grove, N.Y./Washingtonville) and sophomore Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) had three groundballs a piece. Freshman Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) had six saves between the pipes.
 
        Mount St. Mary was lead in scoring by junior Erica Massmann who recorded four goals.  The Knights kept the scoring spread out with 11 other players scoring.  Senior Kaileen Spadaro and sophomores Danielle Krupta and Katy Cartelli contributed three points apiece.  Mount St. Mary was lead in groundballs by freshman Nicole Scicutella who had six. Senior goalkeeper Erin Murray had five saves on the night. 
 
        The Privateers will enjoy a long weekend before returning to action on Tuesday April 2 at Montclair State.  First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
