THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 27, 2013) – Maritime baseball fell to the Merchant Marine Mariners by a score of 12-4. The Privateers drop to 5-13 overall on the season.
Junior
Sal Castagnaro (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) started for Maritime proving to be ineffective only going .1 innings allowing five runs (five earned) on two hits. Castagnaro is now 0-3 on the year. Freshman
D'Juan Seymour (Nassau, Bahamas/Rabun Gap) was bright spot for the Privateers going 2-for-2 and driving in two runs. Sophomore
Albert Doerbecker (Point Lookout, N.Y./Long Beach) (Point Lookout, N.Y. / Long Beach) also drove in his own run.
Mariners sophomore Joseph Policastro, took the mound and tossed six solid innings giving up only one, scattering eight hits and striking out three for his first win of the season. Juniors Warren Hartmann, Danny Collins, Jake Martin and sophomore Keil Silva all drove in two runs apiece
The Privateers will travel back home to take on the Baruch Bearcats on April 2. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
