Live Stats For Wednesday's Game vs. MSMC
PURCHASE, N.Y. (March 26, 2013) – On Tuesday, the Maritime women's lacrosse team traveled up to nearby Purchase College for a Skyline Conference game and defeated the Panthers, 8-6. The Privateers improve to 2-5 (1-3 Skyline) with the victory, while PC falls to 0-5 (0-3 Skyline).
Freshman
Jackie Golematis (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) recorded a game-high four points on three goals and one assist, while sophomore
Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) scored three goals and had one helper. Sophomore
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) and Freshmen
Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) and
Ashley Cordiale (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) also scored for the Privateers.
In goal, freshman
Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) made nine saves for the victory. Acklin and Carella both picked up a game-high five groundballs, while Acklin also led all players with three draw controls. Lavelle caused three Purchase turnovers.
The Panthers got on the board first with a goal just three minutes in to action, but Acklin, Carella and Cordiale went back-to-back-to-back to put Maritime ahead 3-1. Purchase tallied one more goal before Acklin found the back of the net to close out the scoring in the first half with the Privateers leading 4-2.
Early in the second half, PC scored three straight goals to take a 5-4 advantage. Lavelle tied the game at 5-5 with 11:49 to go in the half and Golematis scored two straight goals to put Maritime up, 7-5. A free-position goal by Purchase made it a one-goal game, but Golematis capped off the hat trick with a key insurance goal with just 45 seconds to go in the game.
For the Panthers, Samantha Rich scored three goals, while Cat Vicardi tallied twice and LeiAnn Frazier added the other goal. Jess Lindsay suffered the loss, but played strong in goal, making 27 saves.
Maritime returns to action on Wednesday night, when the Privateers will host Mount St. Mary College at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. It will be the fourth meeting between the two teams, with the Knights winning each of the previous three meetings. Live stats can be found
