Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Farmingdale State Saturday At Home

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 23, 2013) – The Maritime women's lacrosse team drops to 1-5 on the season (0-3 in the Skyline) after Saturday's 17-1 loss to Farmingdale State, which advances to 5-2 (3-0 Skyline).
 
        Freshman Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) scored the Privateer's only goal late in the first half when the Ram's had a 9-0 lead. Lavelle also caused two turnovers on the day. Senior Victoria DeLouise (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side ) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) led the team with four groundballs, while freshman goalie Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) had three groundballs and recorded 11 saves.
 
        Farmingdale's freshman Gabrielle Zutter led the team with 2 goals and the Ram's spread out the rest of the scoring, as 15 other players scored one goal each. Sophomores Christy Thoden, Kelly Geheran and Jackie Kennedy each had a game-high of three points, combining for one goal and two assists each. Freshman Sara Rivadeneyra led the Ram's with four groundballs. In goal, freshman Thalia Medina played the first half and had one save to earn the victory and classmate Georgia Kalamidas stopped two Maritime shots to preserve the win.
 
        Prior to the game, there was a moment of silence to remember Kristina Quigley, the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse head coach who tragically passed away last weekend in a bus accident while travelling with her team to an away contest. Both the Privateers and the Rams both wore Crimson & Gold Ribbons on their cleats to honor Seton Hill.

            The Privateers return to action with another in conference match up, when they travel to SUNY Purchase on Tuesday March 26. The game is a make-up of the March 6 rainout.
