THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 16, 2013) – On Saturday, the Privateer baseball team split a doubleheader with Staten Island. The Dolphins took the first game by a score of 3-0 and then the Privateers won the second contest by a score of 8-5, winning their first game at Reinhart this year.
The first game of the twin bill was all about Staten Island's righty starter, Richard Anderson. Anderson had an impressive day throwing a complete game one hitter while walking only one and striking out ten putting Maritime's bats to sleep. Senior Bryan Moreno had two hits and a RBI for the Dolphins and freshman Michael Milazzo also had two hits and drove one run in.
Senior
Christopher Myers (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) started for the Privateers, hurling five innings, giving up three runs (none earned), walked two, and struck out four. Junior
Nick Sarna (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) also contributed two innings of work, giving up only one hit.
In the second game, Maritime's bats finally came alive. The Privateers knocked out Staten Island's starter, sophomore Kieran Monaghan, after only throwing 3 1/3 innings. Maritime tallied six runs off of him on six hits.
Sophomore

Sophomore
Ryan Alsdorf (Bethel, N.Y./Sullivan West) (Bethel, N.Y./Sullivan West) took the mound for Maritime, tossing six strong innings of work while giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits, with two walks and striking out four.
Maritime will be back at it tomorrow morning when they take on City College. The doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m. at Reinhart Field.
