Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 10, 2013) – A twin billing that was moved to Reinhart Field did not go as planned for the Maritime Privateers baseball team as they dropped both games of a doubleheader against St. Joseph's, 10-4 in game one and 6-2 in game two.

In game one the Bears were down 4-3 after five when they suddenly put together a seven run seventh inning that was too much for Head Coach Gene Steinbach's team to overcome.

Maritime only managed to score four runs on six hits. Sophomore Patrick Kirk (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) had a great game for the Privateers going 3-for-3 with one run scored and drove in a run. Sophomore Albert Doerbecker (Point Lookout, N.Y./Long Beach) (Point Lookout, N.Y./Long Beach) put up two runs of his own as well as freshman Bryan Colasacco (Bay Shore, N.Y./Chaminade) (Bay Shore, N.Y./Chaminade) who also added a run with a RBI single in the fifth.

The major blow came in the seventh inning when senior starter Chistopher Myers (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) who had pitched solidly for the first six innings allowing only three runs, but would eventually struggle in the final inning when Bears sophomore Thomas McKenna singled on an infield hit to third base then senior Kevin Diaz reached on a throwing error by Myers to open the flood gates which eventually led to a seven run inning. Junior Mike Cundari smoked a two RBI double in the inning helping St. Joe's lead to a 10-4 victory. Sophomore Chris Cutrone pitched a complete game for the Bears, going seven innings allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and striking out five.

In game two, sophomore starter Ryan Alsdorf (Bethel, N.Y./Sullivan West) (Bethel, N.Y./Sullivan West) was a victim of some spotty defense from the Maritime infield when junior shortstop Thomas Bauer (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) botched a routine groundball by Cundari that resulted in two unearned runs and ultimately led to a three run third . The Bears would never look back after the third eventually scoring two more runs in the fifth and outlasting the Privateers by a final score of 6-2. Mike Cundari had a homer in game two, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and driving in 3 RBIs. Thomas Bauer drove in the only runs for Maritime with a two RBI single in the fifth.

The Privateers will be hosting the Lehman Lightning on Wednesday night, March 13. The game will start at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
