THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (November 15, 2013) – The Maritime Privateer football team heads into the final week of the regular season with their annual season-ending matchup against the Gallaudet Bison, the game commences at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon on Reinhart Field.
Over the course of the 2013 season the Gallaudet Bison have been featured in the Associated Press, SI.com, had a feature on the CBS Evening News, have won all of its games to earn its first ever national ranking and won its first ECFC Championship a week ago with its win over Anna Maria.
Just about the only thing the Bison have not experienced this season has been a loss, something Maritime will attempt to do this Saturday. In addition to the chance to knock off the league's top team, the Privateers will also be celebrating Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day, while sending off its 10 seniors as part of senior day.
Game Coverage
There will be live statistical coverage of Saturday's contest by accessing this LINK. This season's home games will also be streamed over the Internet on the Privateer Radio Network. Play-by-play man Greg Rice and color commentator Matthew Falkenbury will be calling all the action as it happens on the field. The live audio can be accessed by clicking, HERE. NCAA Policy
As per rules set by the NCAA; fans, parents, friends and all other spectators in attendance at both home and away football games are NOT PERMITTED on the field at any time before, during or after the game. This includes for team pictures after the game on the field. Spectators are asked to remain outside of the gated area surrounding Reinhart Field for both teams to exit the playing field after the game. This policy will be strictly for all home games going forward.

Maritime is 3-7 all-time against Gallaudet, including a 3-3 mark since both teams have joined the NCAA in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Maritime had its two-game winning streak against the Bison snapped last season in its 21-0 loss at home against Gallaudet.
Senior Day
This Saturday, the Maritime football team will be recognizing its 10 seniors who will be playing in their final game at Reinhart Field. The senior unit has amassed a 25-14 overall record, the second best mark for a Maritime senior class.

Saturday's National Anthem
During the National Anthem of tomorrow's game 13 members of the American Sign Language and English High School will be signing the anthem as it is played throughout the stadium. The group is coordinated by Marla Schaeffer and Gabrielle Johnson, and comprised of Jennifer Rescalvo, Tiffani Toro, Tiana Rivera, Shyane Toro, Jenaya Knowles, Taylor Miller, Fior Sanchez, Nancy Colon, Armani Terrell, Sarah Hunt, Vincent Ortiz, Jocelyn Fults, and Darlene Rivas.

Kyle Gardner amassed 101 yards and now sits at 894 yards on the season, the fourth most in a single season by a Privateer back. He is just 82 yards shy of tying the second most rushing yards in a season to tie Jamie Spanopolous' 2009 season. The 2011 season put together by Spanopolous is the single-season record of 1,088 yards during his senior season.
ECFC Weekly Awards
With his kicking performance against Mount Ida last Saturday,
Diogo Dietrich was named the ECFC's top special teams performer for the fourth time of the 2013 season. Dietrich wasn't the only award winner as freshman safety
Thomas Venier was named as the league's top rookie of the week with his team-leading eight tackles and also had an interception. This is the fourth time a Privateer rookie has been selected for the award.

Last week sophomore kicker
Diogo Dietrich converted on three field goals to tie a single-game record for field goals in a game by a Privateer. One of his three field goals was for a career-high 44-yarder, which placed third on the all-time longest field goals list at Maritime. The longest field goal in Privateer history is 47-yards by Madison Leary in September of 2011 vs. Western Connecticut. With his performance this weekend, Dietrich was once again named ECAC Division III Northeast Special Teams Player of the Week.
Capital One Academic All-District Team
With their strong efforts both on the field and in the classroom both sophomores
Beau Warrington and
Michael Brunk were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for District III. Both players are now eligible to be selected to the Capital One All-American Team to be announced later this year.
Something's Got To Give
Entering Saturday's game Gallaudet is the top team in all of Division III in terms of time of possession with a 37:03 average per game. Maritime is close behind in third place amongst all Division III squads with 35:00. The time of possession battle could prove to be the difference in Saturday's game between the two methodical offenses.
Rivalry Weekend Around the League
While Gallaudet has already clinched the top spot and the league championship, several matchups feature in-state and local rivals against one another including a Friday evening game between Becker and Anna Maria.

Scouting the Privateers
The Privateers enter looking to end their season on a high-note with a two-game winning streak and to finish the season at .500 overall and on a four-game home winning streak. Last week Maritime upended Mount Ida 16-7 in a balanced effort by both the offense and defense and special teams.

Kyle Gardner with 894 yards and six touchdowns, while senior
Frank Laino has 363 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. Junior
Greg Caneparo has 273 yards on the ground with four touchdowns. Freshman quarterback
Ryan Heizman still leads the unit with eight scores on 461 rushing yards.
Junior linebacker
Nick Coffiey leads the team with 86 tackles and will end the season with the team lead. He will also end the year with the team-high in solo tackles with 55, as he is still amongst the nation's leaders in solo wrap-ups. Sophomore linebacker

Hugh O'Brien (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) is one behind with 53 tackles. O'Brien also has a team-high 15 TFL's for 63 yards including his team-leading seven sacks.

Special teams has been led by sophomore kicker
Diogo Dietrich has put together one of the finest seasons by a kicker this season with nine field goals and 23 extra points to lead the team with 50 points. Dietrich is still perfect with 19-for-19 on extra point attempts in league play. On kickoffs he has amassed 2,373 yards for a 53.93 average on kicks this season. Freshman
John Arny has picked up 1,141 yards on 32 punts, including 358 yards on 10 punts over the last two games. He has 10 punts inside the 20 and also three fair caught punts.
Scouting the Bison
Gallaudet enters perfect on the season with a 9-0 record and look to complete its season at 10-0 against the Privateers on Saturday. Dating back to last season the team is on an 11-game winning streak including their comeback win on a blocked field goal two weeks ago against Becker. Last week the team handled Anna Maria with ease by a 35-7 score.
On offense, the Bison are a run-first team as Gallaudet has only attempted 59 passes in 2013, with 25 completions. Sophomore B.J. Flores leads the team with 976 yards on the ground entering play on Saturday and has three touchdowns while running for 108.4 yards per game. Overall the team has scored 31 rushing touchdowns led by brothers Ryan and Todd Bonheyo, who have nine and seven scores respectively.
Sophomore Braxton Baker also has six rushing scores, while classmate Quentin Williams has four on the ground. Ryan Bonheyo also has two of the teams receiving touchdowns, while younger brother Todd has two touchdowns from his quarterback position.
A pair of junior linebackers lead the defensive unit as Jaris Alleyne leads the team with 75 wrap ups, close behind is Gregg McConville with 74 who has a team-high 34 assisted tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss. Junior defensive lineman Tyler Snider has the team-high in sacks with 6.5 for a loss in 47 yards. Senior defensive back Nicholas Elstad has three interceptions, while rookie Matt Taylor has a pair as the only two players with multiple picks this season.
Chase Magsig handles both the punting and kicking duties for the Bison and has put together a solid season in both aspects. On punts, he has 38 punts for 1,279 yards and a 33.7 average. Seven of his punts have been inside the opponents' 20-yard line while two have been fair caught. On kicks, Magsig has gone 5-of-8 on field goal tries, while going 31-for-35 on extra point attempts. The return game has been handled by Elstad with 11 kick returns for 154 yards.
