THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2013) – On Saturday, the Maritime men's soccer team earned a 3-0 shutout victory over NYU-Poly in Brooklyn and, with the win, clinched a berth in the Skyline Tournament for the seventh straight season. The Privateers dropped their other game on the weekend, a non-conference tilt at Coast Guard on Sunday, 6-0. Maritime's overall record moves to 7-10-2 (4-3-1 Skyline) overall with the weekend split.

Kieran Donnelly (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) picked up his third game-winning goal in a week on Saturday, by scoring the first goal of a Privateer shutout. This one came just 52 seconds into the game on a header off an assist by junior

Michael Wood (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield) (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield) doubled the Maritime lead in the 16th minute when he scored off a corner kick that was taken by classmate

Michael Burney (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep.) ( Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep.) closed out the scoring on the day with his 37th minute tally, while his classmate, goalkeeper
Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) recorded three saves on the day to earn the shutout win.
On Sunday, the Privateers were outshot by a total of 18-2, while not getting one shot on goal against the Bears. Junior
Patrick Kelleher (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) made five saves in goal for Maritime over the full 90 minutes, but Coast Guard senior Robert Copeland recorded a hat trick with three first-half goals and three other players found the back of the net to lead the Bears to the victory.
Maritime will return to the pitch for the final home game of the 2013 regular season on Tuesday night, Oct. 29, against Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Reinhart Field. Prior to the game, the Privateers will hold a special Senior Night Ceremony for lone senior
