THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2013) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost to visiting Sage College, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field. The loss drops the Privateers to 4-7-2 (1-3-1 Skyline) on the season, while the veteran Gator squad improves to 7-2-3 (5-0-1 Skyline).
Junior Gustavo Trinidad netted a hat trick to lead Sage, scoring the first two goals of the game just 59 seconds apart in the 14th and 15th minutes and then adding a tally late in the 81st minute. Trinidad also added an assist on the day. Senior Nick Mauro and freshmen Christian Pinti and Elhadj Kourouma also found the back of the net for the Gators, while junior Jose Miranda picked up two assists and sophomore Andrew Bartoah had one helper.
For the Privateers, sophomore

Nick Mast (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and freshman
Kieran Donnelly (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) all recorded shots on goal, but the Privateers were outshot by a total of 23-10 on the afternoon, including a 12-3 Sage advantage in shots on goal.

Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) made three saves for Maritime in the first half and freshman
Phil Marks (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) came in for the second half and also made three stops. For the Gators, senior Tim Madden made three saves for the shutout victory.
Maritime returns to action on Wednesday night, Oct. 16, in a non-conference game against Brooklyn College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
