Privateers Fall To St. Joseph’s, 78-65, On The Road

        PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (Jan. 7, 2013) – The Maritime basketball team lost its first game of 2013 Monday night to Skyline foe St. Joseph's College of Long Island, 78-65, at the Golden Eagles' Danzi Athletic Center. The Privateers fall to 0-7 (0-3 Skyline) in defeat, while St. Joe's improves to 3-8 (1-3 Skyline) with the victory.
 
        In his first game of the season for Maritime, sophomore Sean Corley (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall Academy) (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall) led all players with 22 points and also brought down six rebounds. Senior Ron Bethea (Harlem, N.Y./Humanities Prep.) (Harlem, N.Y./Humanities Prep.) chipped in with 16 points and a team-high eight boards, while sophomore T-Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) added 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
        The Eagles had five players score in double-digits, led by junior Keith Anderson, who tallied 19 with a game-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore Sean McCarthy also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards.
 
        The Privateers return to action on Wednesday night, when they take on non-conference opponent Vaughn College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hostos Community College in the Mott Have section of the Bronx.
