Purchase Hat Trick Trips Up Men’s Soccer, 4-1

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2012) – The Maritime men's soccer team played host to Skyline opponent Purchase College Friday night at Reinhart Field and fell to the Panthers by the score of 4-1. The loss drops the Privateers to 4-6 (0-3 Skyline) on the season, while Purchase improves to 5-2-1 (2-1 Skyline).
 
        Junior Blaise Bourgeois scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first half, to record a hat trick for the visiting Panthers. His first two goals were just 59 seconds apart in the 16th and 17th minutes and the third came in the 30th minute. Freshman Kevin Riveros netted the fourth goal for Purchase late, in the 89th minute.
 
        For Maritime, freshman Patrick McCarty (East Rockaway, N.Y./East Rockaway) (East Rockaway, N.Y./East Rockaway Jr./Sr.) recorded the first goal of his collegiate career in the 68th minute off an assist by senior Derek Nehring (Massapequa, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) (Massapequa, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), but the Privateers were in too deep a hole to climb back.
 
        In goal, junior John Dunne (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) made one save and allowed three goals and was replaced by freshman Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) for just the second part of the first half. Weber also made one save.
 
        For the Panthers, sophomore Dylan Hyman earned the victory in goal with six saves.
 
        Maritime is back in action on Sunday night, Sept. 30, when the Privateers welcome in non-conference opponent Berkeley College of New York. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
