ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2012) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost to Skyline Conference opponent Sage, 3-1, Wednesday night at the Plumeri Complex at The College of St. Rose. The Privateers fall to 4-5 (0-2 Skyline) in defeat, while the Gators improve to 8-1 (3-0 Skyline).

Senior Chris Anderson (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) scored the lone goal for Maritime on a penalty kick in the 49th minute. That made the score 2-1 in favor of Sage, though, and would be the closest the Privateers would come to tying the game. The Gators would add an insurance goal just nine minutes later.

Senior keeper Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack) got the start for Maritime, but left early with an injury and was replaced by junior John Dunne (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold). Dunne tallied eight saves on the night.

For Sage, junior Scott Jarosz tallied the first and third goals. Sophomore Tyler Denton recorded two assists and classmate Jose Miranda recorded the eventual game-winner. Freshman keeper TJ Zehner also recorded eight saves to record to the win.

Maritime is back in action on Friday night, Sept. 28, when the Privateers welcome in Skyline-foe Purchase College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
