        BRONX, N.Y. (August 30, 2012) – The reigning two-time Skyline Champion Maritime men's soccer team opened the 2012 season with a convincing win over local rival Lehman College, 3-0, tonight at the Lightning's South Field. Three different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Privateers, while in goal, senior Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack), earned the shutout.
 
        Senior Chris Anderson (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) got Maritime on the board first with a goal off of a penalty kick. The Privateers' second goal came on a header by sophomore Logan Becker (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) off an assist by junior David Sparozic (Carmel, N.Y./Mahopac). The final goal of the day was scored by freshman Matthew Gisolfi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), who finished off a feed from senior Derek Nehring (Massapequa, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) (Massapequa, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran).

        The Privateers return to action on Sunday, when they play host to Keystone College as part of a doubleheader of soccer action at Reinhart Field. First kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
