THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 20, 2012) – The Skyline Conference announced late Monday that Maritime junior
Joey Semler (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) (Kirkland, Wash./Edmonds C.C.) was named the conference's baseball Player of the Week for his performances in the Privateers' five games last week. Semler helped lead Maritime to a 3-2 with wins over Staten Island and Yeshiva.
The 5-9, 190-pounder batted a team-high .412 over the five games (7-for-17) with two doubles and one triple. He drove in 10 RBIs and scored seven runs for the Privateers, while walking three times and stealing two bases in two attempts. Two of his RBIs came in the form of sacrifice flies. Semler continues to lead the team with a .442 batting average, a mark that ranks second in the Skyline. He is also third in the league with a .509 on-base percentage and seventh in slugging percentage with a .535. Semler's 16 RBIs on the season is tied for second in the conference and his 19 hits are tied for fourth.

The Privateers are back in action this afternoon, when they travel over to Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y., to take on arch-rival Kings Point. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Mariners' Lower Roosevelt Field.
