Bulldogs Shutout Privateers, 2-0, Monday Night

        BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2012) – The Maritime men's soccer team travelled to face Brooklyn College Monday and lost to the Bulldogs in a non-conference game by the score of 2-0. The Privateers fall to 7-9-1 overall on the season, while Brooklyn improves to 9-4-2.
 
        Freshman Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) (Northport, N.Y./Northport) got the start and recorded four saves in the first half. At halftime, junior John Dunne (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) took over between the pipes and he recorded three saves.
 
        The Bulldogs scored in the 56th minute and then again in the 60th minute. Junior Dmitry Prokofyev and senior Pajtim Gjonbalaj were the goal-scorers. Brooklyn outshot Maritime, 21-6. Junior keeper Stamatis Boundouris turned aside three Privateer shots for the victory. Sophomore Chris Haffner (West Hempstead, N.Y./Kellenberg) (West Hempstead, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) had two of those shots on goal.
 
        Maritime is back in action on Thursday night, when the men's and women's squads will host Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Reinhart Field. The women start at 5 p.m. and the men's game will follow shortly after, around 7 p.m.
