THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sep. 3, 2011) – The SUNY Maritime men's soccer team will continue action on Saturday, when the squad plays host to local non-conference opponent Lehman College of the CUNYAC Conference. Opening whistle is set for 1 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
Inside The Series
This will be the third straight season that the Privateers and Lightning have squared off against each other, with Maritime taking both of the first two games. In 2010, the Privateers won 3-0 on goals by then-freshman David Sparozic (Carmel, N.Y./Mahopac), then-junior Tom Federico (Islip, N.Y./Islip) (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and Haluk Erdogan (Izmir,Turkey/Aliaga Alp Oguz Anadolu Lisesi). Then-junior Jason Tursi (Farmingdale, N.Y./Plainedge) (Farmingdale, N.Y./Plainedge) created the first two goals off of corner kicks. In 2009, Maritime won the showdown, 4-0.
