THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 26, 2011) – The Maritime baseball team will host archrival USMMA-Kings Point in its final game of the 2011 season, which will also serve as senior night for the Privateers' two seniors. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at Reinhart Field. The game was supposed to be played on Monday, but had to be postponed due to the poor conditions of the field after inclement weather hit the city this past weekend.
Inside The Series
The teams have played each other eight times in the past five years, with the Mariners holding the series edge over that period, coming out with the victory in six opportunities. In their last encounter during the 2010 season, Kings Point scored early, tallying ten runs in the first two innings, in route to a 13-11 victory over the Privateers. Then-sophomore Jonathan Proscia (Franklin Square, N.Y./Holy Trinity) (Franklin Square, N.Y./Holy Trinity) led Maritime, going 5-5 on the day with three runs scored and two RBIs.
The squads were supposed to play a game earlier on the season at the Mariners' campus, however it was postponed and later canceled due to the snow storms that where affecting the area.
