THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team will put a close on the 2010-11 campaign tonight as they play host to Skyline Conference foe Yeshiva at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. The game is schedule to start at 8:30 p.m.
Tonight will also be Senior Night, where the squads' five seniors will be recognized before the game: Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High), Andrew Geisel (Media, Pa./Penncrest), Quamel Lyerly (Inwood, N.Y./Lawrence), Paul Suarino (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and Tavaris Adderly.
Inside The Series
This will be the third time these teams meet this season with Maritime taking both of the previous meetings. On Nov. 21, 2010, the squads met at a neutral court as the Privateers defeated the Maccabees at Ramapo in Mahwah, N.J., 61-59, in a non-conference matchup. On Jan. 22, 2011 Maritime defeated Yeshiva at the Max Stern Athletic Center, 89-77.
The Privateers are looking to have the same results as in the 2009-10 season, where they swept the Macs in the two-game series. On Dec. 5, 2010, Yeshiva visited Riesenberg and left with a loss, 66-47. When the series went back to Manhattan, the result was the same as Maritime defeated the Maccabees, 60-43, on Jan. 23, 2010. The Privateers currently have a four-game winning streak against Yeshiva.
