Basketball Game Day: Privateers Play Host To NYU Tonight At Riesenberg; Porte Named To Skyline Weekly Honor Roll

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Dec. 6, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team will welcome New York University of the University Athletic Association to the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium Tuesday night for a non-conference contest. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
Porte Earns A Spot On Skyline Weekly Honor Roll

        On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced that grad student Sam Porte (Harlem, N.Y./H.S. for Math, Science & Engineering) (Harlem, N.Y./Math, Sci. & Engin.) was named to the men's basketball weekly honor roll for his performances in the Privateers' three games last week. The 6-5, 218-pounder averaged a double-double with a team-high 21.7 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 64.1-percent from the field.

Inside The Series

        The two teams met last season on Dec. 30, 2010, also at Riesenberg. The visiting Violets took away a 92-79 victory from the Privateers. For Maritime, graduated senior Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) recorded a triple-double with 35 points, 21 rebounds and 10 steals, while also surpassing the 1,000-point plateau for his career.
