Basketball Loses To Conn. College Friday In First Night Of Camel/Cadet Classic

        NEW LONDON, Conn. (Dec. 2, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball lost to Connecticut College, 85-70, Friday night in the first night of the Camel/Cadet Classic at Conn. College's Luce Field House. The Privateers fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Camels improve to 1-3.
 
        Grad. student Sam Porte (Harlem, N.Y./H.S. for Math, Science & Engineering) (Harlem, N.Y./Math, Sci. & Engin.) led all players with 21 points, while senior Mike McSloy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) recorded 19 points and freshman Louie Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Eagle Academy) (Bronx, N.Y./Eagle Academy) scored 15 points. Sophomore Jack Cole (Bethany Beach, Del./Indian River) (Bethany Beach, Del./Indian River) matched the game-high with seven rebounds.
 
        The Camels shot 54.5-percent from the line, including a 40.0-percent clip from 3-point range, while holding Maritime to just 49.2-perecent from the field and 28.6-perecent from long range. Connecticut College used 13 Privateer turnovers to score 21 points and also recorded 25 points off the bench in the victory.
 
        For Conn. College, two players recorded a team-high 18 points apiece: sophomore Matt Vadas and junior Rob Harrigan. Sophomores Mason Lopez (14 points) and John Bulitt (12 points) also rounded out the game's double-digit scorers.
 
        Maritime returns to action tomorrow night, when the squad takes on Coast Guard, who lost to Montclair State Friday night, 71-67, in the second game of the Came/Cadet Classic.
