THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Dec. 2, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team will travel up Interstate-95 to New London, Conn., this weekend to play in the Citizens Bank Camel/Cadet Classic hosted by both Connecticut College and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Action will get underway tonight at Conn. College, when the Privateers will take on the host Camels at 6 p.m. at the Luce Field House.
 
        The other game scheduled for Friday night will feature Coast Guard taking on Montclair State University. On Saturday, the event will shift venues to the USCGA's Merriman Gym for the consolation game at 2 p.m. and the championship game at 4 p.m.
 
A Look At Tonight's Matchup
        Tonight's game will be the first meeting between Maritime and Connecticut College. During the 2010-11 season, the two teams had one common opponent, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The Camels defeated the Bloodhounds, 77-61 at home in the Camel/Cadet Classic in 2010, while the Privateers lost to John Jay in Manhattan, 102-68.
 
Inside The Series With Coast Guard And Montclair State
        The Privateers last faced Coast Guard at the Maritime Tip-Off Classic hosted by California Maritime back in November of 2008. The Bears were victorious, 75-59, in what was the season-opening game for both teams. In the previous season's Maritime Tip-Off Classic in 2007, which was hosted by the Privateers in Throggs Neck, the two teams met in the championship game and Coast Guard took the 76-63 victory from the Riesenberg Gym.
 
        Maritime last faced Montclair State in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament back in March of 2009. The Red Hawks won on their home court, 79-67.
