Men’s Soccer Game Day: Privateers Seek Second-Straight Skyline Title At St. Joseph’s This Afternoon

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2011) – The #2-seed Maritime men's soccer team will travel to face top-seeded St. Joseph's College this afternoon in the Skyline Conference Championship Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Centereach Field in Centereach, Suffolk County, N.Y.
 
Privateers Reach Skyline Finals For Second-Straight Season
        The Privateers will be playing in the Skyline Tournament Finals for the second year in a row on Saturday. Last season, Maritime defeated Old Westbury, 3-1, at Reinhart Field to win the Skyline Championship and earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
 
Inside The Series With St. Joseph's
        The two teams met earlier this season on Oct. 1 at Reinhart Field and the Golden Eagles came away with a 3-0 victory. Senior John Dettori scored all three goals for St. Joseph's in the 15th, 36th and 75th minutes. St. Joe's junior keeper Chris Muhs recorded four saves for the shutout victory, while junior Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack) also made four saves in the losing effort.
 
        The two teams met in the semifinals of the Skyline Tournament last season and the game ended in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes. Maritime then advanced to the finals by winning a penalty kick shootout, 4-2. In the last five meetings dating back to the 2008 season, St. Joseph's holds a 3-1-1 record over the Privateers.

From the west.....LIE east to Nichols Road exit 62 north. Follow Nichols Road north to Route 25 - Middle Country Road.  Turn left onto Route 25 (west). At the car wash on your right, on the corner of Horse Block Road, make a left (south).  Once you are on Horse Block, look for AMF Centereach Lanes on right. The field is on the left behind the VFW building.  There is a small sign noting "Centereach Field, Town of Brookhaven."
