SCRANTON, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team lost to Centenary College, 85-79, on the final day of action at the Radisson Invitational Sunday afternoon at the University of Scranton's Long Center. The loss drops the Privateers record to 0-3 on the season, while the Cyclones improve to 1-2.

Mike McSloy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) tallied a career-high 26 points on the day, while dishing out five assists. Classmate

Hugh Byrd (Pequannock, N.J./DePaul Catholic) (Newfoundland, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and freshman
T-Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas/Sun Land Academy) each tallied 13 points apiece.
The game came down to the final six minutes, as the score was tied, 61-61, at 6:21, but Centenary went on a 16-6 run over the next five minutes to build a 10-point lead, 77-67, with 1:22 remaining. However, the Privateers fought back to cut the deficit to just three points, 82-79, with 13 seconds left, but it was too little, too late, as the Cyclones continued to make their free throws down the stretch to claim the victory.
Senior Larry Lenahan recorded a double-double for Centenary with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Warren Murphy also scored 20 points to help lead the Cyclones to the win.
McSloy was named to the All-Tournament team by the coaches for his performance over the two games.
Maritime returns to action this Tuesday night, Nov. 22, when the squad travels to Brooklyn to take on Skyline-foe NYU-Poly in the conference-opener. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Blue Jays' Jacobs Gymnasium.
