Men's Soccer Drops Second Straight Contest, 2-0, To Farmingdale State

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2011) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost its second-straight Skyline contest Tuesday night on the road at Farmingdale State, 2-0. The loss drops the Privateers to 7-4-2 overall (3-2 Skyline), while the Rams improve to 3-8 (2-2 Skyline).
 
        Maritime had all the good chances in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net. Farmingdale keeper, freshman Michael Valverde, made three saves in the opening half.
 
        Rams freshman Joseph Dettori scored twice in the second half, in the 62nd and 86th minutes, to give Farmingdale the victory.
 
Junior keeper Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack) started the game and made six saves in 88 minutes. His counterpart, Valverde, finished the night with seven saves.
 
        The Privateers return to action next Monday, Oct. 10, when they play host to non-conference opponent Baruch. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field, following the action of the women's soccer game.
