NEW LONDON, Conn. (Oct. 24, 2011) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost its final non-conference game of the regular season, 2-0, Sunday night at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The defeat drops the Privateers to 10-5-3, while the Bears improve to 5-9-1.
The Privateers could not muster up the offense in the game, as they only recorded six shots in the contest (two in the first half and four in the second). Coast Guard fired 12 shots, including their two goals, the first coming in the 23rd minute by senior Brett Godiksen and the second coming in the 60th minute off the foot of senior Kevin Noll.

Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack) recorded three saves in the losing effort, while Bears' sophomore Carlos Gonzalez earned the win with a scoreless first half before being replaced by freshman Richie Burns, who made three saves to preserve the shutout.
Maritime is next in action on Thursday night, Oct. 27, in the final Skyline Conference regular season contest against Purchase on the road. The game is a makeup of the earlier postponed contest from Oct. 14 that could not be played due to lightning. The Privateers will be looking to lock up the #2 seed and a first-round bye in the Skyline Conference Tournament with a victory over the Panthers. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Purchase's Panther Park.
