St. Joseph’s Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Privateers, 3-0, At Reinhart Field

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2011) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost to visiting St. Joseph's of Long Island, 3-0, Saturday in Skyline Conference action. The defeat drops the Privateers' record to 7-3-2 (3-1 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles improve to 4-6 (3-0 Skyline).
 
        St. Joe's junior John Dettori picked up a hat trick to his team to the victory, scoring two goals in the first half and the third in the closing half. Senior Julian Barreiros assisted on the first and third, while William Kuhlwilm had his hand in the second goal.
 
        The Privateers just could not muster up any good opportunities throughout the game, as they were outshot by the Eagles, 13-7. St. Joseph's junior keeper Chris Muhs made four saves for the win, while Maritime's junior Michael Vanadia (Commack, N.Y./Commack) (Commack, N.Y./Commack) also made four stops in the losing effort. He was replaced by sophomore John Dunne (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) with less than eight minutes left in the second half, but Dunne faced no shots on goal.
 
        Senior Jack Blunden (Arlington, Va./Washington) (Southold, N.Y./Southold) had a team-high two shots (one on goal).
 
        Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when the team travels to take on the Rams of Farmingdale State College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Rams' Soccer Field.
