THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Jan. 20, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team is back in action tonight after tallying their first win of 2011 against Bard, 57-45, on Tuesday night. The Privateers look to repeat the feat they achieved earlier in the season, when they defeated both Bard (66-65 on Nov. 30, 2010) and NYU-Poly (84-68 on Dec. 2, 2010) in straight games playing away from Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. Now, they have the opportunity to treat their home crowd with the first winning streak of the new year.
Inside The Series With NYU-Poly
This will be the second time these teams meet this season. In the first game, Maritime came out on top by a score of 84-68. The Privateers were led by Senior Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) who scored 29 points, while grabbing six rebounds, six steals and five assists.
During the 2009-10 season, Maritime won both meetings. The first game finished 76-49 in Throggs Neck on Dec. 8, 2009. The second game was at NYU-Poly on Feb. 3, 2010, and the final score was 63-54.
