THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2010) – The men's cross country team finished second and the women were fourth at the Hunter Invitational this past weekend at Van Cortlandt Park. The men were paced by sophomore Luke Milano (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), who finished third in the 140 man field. Milano covered the 8000 meter course (4.97 miles) in a time of 29:15. Milano was followed by fellow sophomores Sam Rainard (Wheaton, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) (Wheaton, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), Gabriel Rosa (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) (Wilkes Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial), Pat Evans (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown East), and Matt Taraboletti (Titusville, Fla./Astronaut). Junior Tom Moskowitz (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and freshman Cory O'Farrell (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook) rounded out the scoring for the Privateers.
Freshman Jackie Bellisari (Albertson, N.Y./Holy Trinity) (Albertson, N.Y./Holy Trinity) was the top Maritime finisher in the women's 6000 meter race as she finished 9th in the 121 runner field. Bellisari was followed by juniors Emily Motz (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este), Lisa Wasson (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart), Alexandra Carela (Paterson, N.J./Wayne) (Paterson, N.J./Wayne), and Catherine Brady (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North).
Both the men's and women's teams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Newburgh, NY to run in the Mount Saint Mary Invitational at Chadwick Lake Park. The women's race starts at 11:00 and the men run at 11:45.
