Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Ramapo College, 14-4

MAHWAH, N.J. (April 6, 2010) – The Maritime women's lacrosse team lost its Skyline Conference road game at Ramapo College, 14-4, Tuesday afternoon in the Garden State. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 1-5 overall on the season, while the Roadrunners improve to 6-2.

 

Junior Jill Davenport (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore tri-captain Catherine Brady (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) (Holbrook, N.Y.) each recorded two points for Maritime. Davenport scored a goal in each half, while Brady tallied a second half goal and an assist. Sophomore Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y.) also found the back of the net for the Privateers in the loss. Brady and Saporito had four and three draw controls, respectively. In net, senior tri-captain Meagan Golden (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) (Point Pleasant, N.J.) recorded seven saves.

 

Maritime was trailing, 2-0, early in the first before Davenport scored her first goal, assisted by Brady, to cut the lead in half. After two more Ramapo goals, Saporito tallied her goal at 17:47 of the first to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Roadrunners would take a 9-2 lead into halftime. After two quick goals in the second half by Ramapo, Brady added her goal to make the score 11-3. Davenport ended the scoring on the day with a goal with 5:42 remaining in the game.

 

For Ramapo, Christina Cigolini recorded a hat trick to lead all players, while Amanda Barretta scored two in the win. Megan Tierney allowed four first half goals and recorded four saves to claim the victory.

 

The Privateer return to action on Thursday, April 8, when they travel to Providence, R.I. to take on Rhode Island College. Gametime is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Anchorwomen's Varsity Athletic Complex.
