THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 14, 2010) – Skyline Conference commissioner Tracy King announced on Monday that Maritime freshman Trevor Canella (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline baseball weekly honor roll for his pitching performance in the Privateers' 7-3 victory over Mount Saint Vincent at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y. on Saturday.
Canella earned his first collegiate victory in the second game of the conference-doubleheader after pitching six innings and allowing three runs (just one earned). The freshman righty gave up six hits in the outing, while striking out three.
As a team, the Privateers (7-13, 4-6 Skyline) rank fifth in the conference with a 6.85 team ERA, while their .277 batting average ranks sixth. Individually, sophomore Jonathan Proscia (Franklin Square, N.Y./Holy Trinity) (Franklin Square, N.Y.) leads the Skyline with 18 stolen bases, while junior AJ McPartlan (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) (Huntington Station, N.Y.) ranks fourth in the category with 13 swipes. Defensively, junior Ryan Simpson (Levittown, N.Y./Holy Trinity) (Levittown, N.Y.) ranks fourth in the conference with 158 putouts.

The Maritime baseball team returns to the field on Wednesday, April 14, when the squad plays host to the Lightning of nearby Lehman College (6-14, 2-7 CUNYAC) at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
