Privateers Defeat Berkeley, 89-57, To Improve To 11-0 At Home

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2010) - The Maritime men's basketball team won its eighth-straight game by defeating Berkeley College (N.J.) Tuesday night, 89-57, at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. The win improves the Privateers record to 16-4, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-18.

Maritime was led by senior-transfer Adedokun Olanrewaju (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), who recorded a double-double by tallying a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. Classmate Andre Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern) also registered a double-double with 20 points
(including 10 straight for the Privateers in the second) and 10 boards , while junior Shamair Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) rounded out the Privateers' double-digit scorers with 19 points.

Junior Justin Bright (Brooklyn, N.Y./Park West) tallied a game-high nine assists and six steals and Maritime had scoring contributions from junior Andrew Geisel (Media, Pa./Penncrest) (nine points), junior Trevis Craig (Queens, N.Y./Springfield) (eight points) and junior Paul Saurino (four points). Bright, junior Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) and senior Sean Robinson (Bronx, N.Y./H.S. for Art & Design) all scored two points.

The Privateers return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Troy, N.Y. to take on Skyline-opponent Sage. Game time against the Gators is set for 8 p.m.
