Mount Saint Vincent started the game strong, building up a 12-7 lead early, forcing Maritime to call the game's first timeout with 13:05 to play in the first. The Privateers fought to within one point three times, the last time on a layup by Cooper with 4:36 left to make the score 26-25, Mount. The Dolphins brought a four-point lead, 31-27, into the half, as Maritime shot just 35.3-percent from the field.
In the second, the Maritime final tied the score up, then took a 38-37 lead on a pair of made free throws by Hurley.
