Men's Soccer Takes Over First Place In Skyline Conference With 4-3 Road Victory Over Sage

            ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2010) – The Maritime men's soccer team traveled up to the state's capital on Saturday to take on Sage College in a battle for the top spot of the Skyline Conference. The Privateers came out victorious, 4-3, over the Gators and now sit alone in first place with just one conference game remaining. Maritime's record improves to 11-7 overall (7-2 Skyline), while Sage falls to 7-7-1 (6-3-1 Skyline).

Junior David Kittinger (Fort Myers, Fla./South Fort Myers (Fla.)) (Fort Myers, Fla./South Fort Myers) scored the game-winning goal with just 3:29 remaining in regulation to break the 3-3 tie. Sophomore Haluk Erdogan (Izmir,Turkey/Aliaga Alp Oguz Anadolu Lisesi) (Izmir,Turkey/Aliaga Alp Oguz Anadolu Lisesi) tallied two goals in the contest, including the equalizer in the 71st minute to bring the game to 3-3.

Sophomore Chris Anderson (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) tallied Maritime's first goal just over a minute after Sage got on the board on an own goal in the 13th minute.

The Gators got goals from Wesley Finch and Evan Southworth. Privateer keeper, senior Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis), stood tall for Maritime, stopping 10 shots to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Maritime returns to action on Monday, Oct. 25, when the Privateers play host to the Bears of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
