THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2010) – The Maritime men's soccer team lost to conference opponent Bard, 1-0, on the road on Saturday at the Raptor's Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer Complex. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 8-6 overall on the season (4-2 Skyline), while Bard improves to 5-7 (3-2 Skyline).
The only goal of the contest came in the opening half, when Raptor freshman Christian Letourneau took the ball for a long run down the left side, split the defenders and fired a shot that Maritime keeper Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) got his hands on but was too powerful to stop. Despite nine shots, the Privateers couldn't find the back of the net, as Bard goalie Deven Connelly made five saves to preserve the victory. Papson ended the afternoon with two saves.
The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when the squad travels to take on Yeshiva at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison, N.Y. Kick off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
